There is an information about the new “cart”, developed by Porsche. Hiding behind an abbreviation, MSB platform will become the basis for a number of premium models, which will be created by brands belonging to the Volkswagen Group. It focuses on the design of vehicles with front engine and rear-or all-wheel drive.
First of all, the next generation Panamera will be based on this “Cart” (shown above is the current generation). It is also expected that the next generation Bentley Continental will also be based on this platform, and possibly the mysterious Lamborghini sedan too, rumors of which have been circulating for a long time. Another potential newcomer to this family is Audi A9 Coupe.
It is claimed that models of on the new platform will differ low weight. In particular, Panamera at the change of generation “loses weight” for 91 kg. Such savings are possible through the use of high strength steels (this allows to do finer details) in combination with lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber. Incidentally, the latter two materials are particularly widely used in the new mid-engine platform, which is also developing a Porsche. It will be a base for an entirely new supercar with central engine from Stuttgart, as well as Audi R8, and the next generation the successor of Lamborghini Gallardo.
