The Italian sports car producer Maserati is planning to increase it’s sales by improving relations with Chrysler. The result of the cooperation should be the three new Maserati – two sports sedan and a luxury crossover.
The Italians are going to substitute the sedan Quattroporte, using for this the platform of Chrysler – the same one which is now produced on Chrysler 300 and Dodge Avenger. Besides, it is planed to develop a more compact four-door model. The crossover will be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. However Maserati team specifies that all the Italian models will have their own design, different suspension and engines.

Instead of one sedan Maserati will have two – larger and more compact than the current Quattroporte, and the dimensional difference between them will be up to 250 mm. Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-class are selected competitors for the second of them. The Italians plan to modernize the series of engines Pentastar and use it.
The crossover’s premiere will take part in Frankfurt. It is stated that Maserati will cost much more expensive than the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
