At the Geneva Auto Show a whole range of the tuned BMW will be presented. And both in the performance of the third – party firms and in the factory form projects within the new program M Performance will be presented. The most notable example of the independent tuners will become the snowy white cabriolete 650i, and the operational development in the department will undergo the M “unity”, the “three” and the “five”.
The company Lumma Design is a well known expert on the completion of the various models of the BMW Company. As the basis of their project CLR 600 GT the Germans took convertible 650i and added to it the style and the elegance at the expense of the blade “lip” under the front bumper with the integrated LED daytime lights, the plates on sills and the rear bumper diffuser. Emphasize the newfound style fishnet “twentieth” the GTB – Monoblock wheels, and the fit body underestimated by 20 mm.
They did not expose too extreme loads on the engine – V8 with the volume of 4.4 liter with two turbines received a new management program coupled with supercharged small modifications of the intake – release, which gave 490 horsepower with the capacity of 720 Newton meters torque against the standard 408 hp and 600 N • m. In the cabin of the convertible the interior designers of the Lumma Company have sawn with leather and the seats and the trim panels with Alcantara, and also have replaced the steering wheel and pedals to more sporting ones.
In the contrary to the third – party ateliers, BMW decided to create an expanded program of the factory tuning with the name of M Performance. At the time of its debut in Geneva, it is designed for the 1, 3 and 5 series. The list of the available components is extensive: there are splitters, spoilers, moldings and other aerodynamic elements, and bigger brakes and rigid lower suspensions, and louder mufflers, and a sports steering wheel with a “racing” display, as well as a variety of handles, pads in the cabin.
Within the program M Performance the BMW Company is ready to offer also increased power engines. However, it applies only to the two – liter turbo diesel engine that gets an increase from 184 to 200 horsepower. Later, the BMW Company will offer an upgrade for the petrol turbines, as well as will expand the list of models available for the “circulation” of the new factory program.
